Michelle Calderon Ordained to
Ministry at Grady Hospital,
February 13

At a service held at Central
Congregational UCC, Atlanta,
Michelle Calderon was ordained
into Christian ministry and
installed in a four-way covenant,
the calling body of which was the
Nia Project of Grady Hospital.
The Nia Project is a service for at
risk women at Grady Hospital and
it is calling Michelle to serve as
the coordinator for spiritual life. A
four-way covenant is one, which
joins in relationship the minister,
her calling body and her local
church. Conference Minister Tim
Downs and Dr. Allen Mullinax, Chair of the Committee on Ministry of the Georgia-
South Carolina Association, participated in the service on behalf of the Association
and Conference. Preaching for the occasion was Laurie Robins, a UCC minister,
member of Central Congregational UCC, and a Supervisor in the CPE program at
Grady Hospital. Pictured left are Michelle Calderon (right) with Laurie Robins.

Thanks to Dick Sales for His Service as an Ecumenical Representative to the
DOC

Dick Sales has announced his retirement from a position from which he

represented the United Church of Christ on the Board of Directors of the Alabama
Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Dick served on this board for
over a decade. He noted on the occasion of his retirement, "I've appreciated more
than words can express my relationship with the Christian Church DOC" and
added that he resigns with "tears in his eyes". The Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) has been a significant ecumenical partner with the UCC from the time of its
founding. Over the years, the Southeast Conference has sought to collaborate
with the five Disciples Regions that comprise our conference.
